Medium: Photography

Taxa: Mammals, Bats

A grey long-eared bat (Plecotus austriacus) sets out to hunt on a clear summer night in Devon, England. The decline of the grey long-eared bat is closely linked to the disappearance of meadows, its main foraging habitat, due to ever-intensifying agricultural practices. The species is classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN and is Britain’s rarest breeding bat. This photograph was taken ethically using red light fliters to avoid any disturbance to the bats.
