Discover, Create, Value
Our Colour in the Margins team got together with community artists Sarah Jane Richards and Sian Hughes to draw, sculpt and create while exploring the beauty of endangered plants.
This family friendly art activity used exciting materials to explore the diversity of wild plants that can be found in fields and margins. These activities inspired discovery and exploration, and led to connections to nature to value and act on protecting some of our most vulnerable species.
Working with professional artists Sian Hughes and Sarah Jane Richards the local community got creative with drawings, wire sculptures and delicate porcelain flower making to create beautiful artwork as part of a growing exhibition and series of community arts.
It’s the first time ever that so many conservation organisations have come together with one focus in mind – to bring back from the brink of extinction some of England’s most threatened species of animal, plant and fungi. …Colour in the Margins, led by Plantlife is focusing on cornfield flowers and the Ryedale Folk Museum is hosting art events as part of this ambitious scheme.
Event took place at
Study Centre, Ryedale Folk Museum
On the 27th and 28th of August, the artists set up in the Study Centre at Ryedale Folk Museum to deliver free family-friendly art activities working with drawing, wire and porcelain.
