Grasslands Art
The Exhibition at Museum in the Park, Stroud, showed artworks made by members of the public in collaboration with eco-artist Joanna Callaghan in celebration of the beautiful and increasingly rare limestone grasslands of the Cotswolds.
Each piece of work had been created on paper handmade by artist Joanna Callaghan using wildflowers and grasses typical of local limestone grasslands. Children and adults took a piece of the handmade paper and using natural art materials such as chalk, charcoal and mud, made an image showing what this wonderful natural habitat meant to them. The beautiful and varied pieces of art were all made as part of the Limestone Living Legacies Project run by Back from the Brink.
“Joanna brought to life the work of the project and made it real for people through her fantastic event. Reimagining the natural world around us through creativity was such a fantastic way to connect people to nature and instil a sense of fragility and threat, but also of hope.”
