Our Colour in the Margins team got together with community artists Sarah Jane Richards and Sian Hughes to draw, sculpt and create while exploring the beauty of endangered plants.
Colour in the Margins
The colourful hues of cornfield flowers were once a familiar part of our arable landscape. Sadly they are also the fastest declining suite of plants in the UK. Fascinating, sometimes rare, and often overlooked - they are frequently threatened by the arable farming on which they depend. This has a knock-on effect for other wildlife, including ground beetles, bats and birds.

Our ‘Colour in the Margins, in Words’ event was run by professional poet Linden McMahon. All participants received a pamphlet of specially written poems – which they were then invited to add to through a series of fun and accessible activities.
Drawing from nature
Inspired by the title of Back from the Brink’s project, Colour in the Margins – which aims to halt the decline in arable species – artist Amanda Thesiger designed a creative event, incorporating walking and drawing within the beautiful Kent landscape.
