Curated Collection
Each month we have a guest curator who selects some of their favourite pieces from the virtual exhibition to display in their collection.

Collection curated by
Gillian Burke
Gillian joined the BBC’s much-loved Springwatch brand in 2018 alongside hosts Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan & Iolo Williams. She also recently presented the BBC’s Blue Planet UK with co-host Steve Brown. Having earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Bristol University, Gillian pursued a career in natural history filmmaking, working her way up the ranks from Researcher to Producer/Director on several Animal Planet and Discovery Channel series.
Outside of her television work, Gillian applies her biology and media experience to work closely with a number of international, national and local charities in Cornwall where she now lives. As patron and/or ambassador, she supports the work of the Wildlife Trusts, Buglife, Cool Earth, Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust, Wild Otter Trust UK, Mount Kenya Trust and Black Voices Cornwall. She also lends her time to support the work of the Marine Strandings Network, Cornwall Hugs Grenfell, Shelterbox, Surfers Against Sewage and the newly formed Beaver Trust.
About the collection
Gillian has selected artwork from several Back from the Brink projects and events, most notably Colour in the Margins and Gems in the Dunes. She was keen on pieces that most closely reflected nature in their chosen medium, such as natural dyes and plant prints.
