Saving England's most threatened species from extinction

Butterfly Conservation Habitat Work Party – Bedford Purlieus

Location:

Bedford Purlieus Nature Reserve Peterborough PE8 6NN Grid ref: TL042995

Date: 20th February 2020

Time: 10am-4pm

As part of our Root of Rockingham project, get fit in the fresh air while helping wildlife with Back from the Brink volunteers improving butterfly habitat in Bedford Purlieus.

This important habitat work is focusing on improving habitat for Black Hairstreak Butterflies. Volunteers from the Cambs and Essex Butterfly Conservation Branch alongside Back from the Brink are rejuvenating blackthorn to create new breeding habitat for the butterflies which lay eggs on the young shoots.

The woodland tracks leading to the work area can be very muddy at this time of year so bring suitable footwear such as wellies or sturdy waterproof workbooks and plenty of warm layers to keep out the cold.

Hot drinks and biscuits awarded to all who brave the elements in the name of conservation!

Free event but booking required.
